ABOUT EMILY

Emily is a former editor for regional lifestyles publication Marquee Magazine and a lifelong writer of fiction, nonfiction, and poetry. In 2022, she completed the Master of Arts degree in Communication and Storytelling Studies at East Tennessee State University. Emily currently splits her time between work as adjunct teacher at ETSU, as Program Assistant at the International Storytelling Center, as an academic qualitative researcher, and as a performing member with the Jonesborough Storyteller’s Guild.

PHILOSOPHY

Emily believes we are all made of stories, weaving together meaning from the wholemeal wonder of everyday life, our fairydust imaginations, and the spiciness of the people we meet. She trusts in the goodness of story to serve as a bridge for humanity, reaching a grateful hug back to our elders, sending forward a life-sustaining legacy of tales for years and ears to come. Her dear hope is to foster this power in each of us, to add more rich storytelling voices to the archive of humanity’s oldest art.
